  • Cut
  • The cut of the diamond defines its sparkle. The shine of the diamond depends on how it has been cut and how many facets it has. When cut correctly the diamond will shine more. The Cut also talks about the shape of the stone such as round, pear or oval. Round brilliant diamonds are commonly cut with 58 facets. The better proportioned these facets are on the diamond, the more light will be reflected back to the viewer's eye.

  • Carat
  • Carat is the size of the diamond. One carat is made up of 100 points and 5 carats make one gram. Very often a less than 100 point diamond is sold of as 1 carat diamond hence it is essential to get size in terms of points rather than the weight of the diamond.

  • Clarity
  • Refers to how the clear the stone is. Hence a chart if used to measure the clarity of the diamond.

  • Colour
  • The colour of a diamond ranges from D to X, D being the whitest. Diamonds can also be red, green, pink, brown and blue in colour and hence it is important to ask you dealer for a guarantee on the colour and clarity of your diamond.o capture.
